City2Surf for Schizophrenia

250 staff from Ramsay Health Care will be running the Sun Herald City 2 Surf on Sunday 10th March to raise funds for the Schizophrenia Research Institute. We'd like to encourage other teams - anyone can enter and you can walk if you don't want to run.

Other events include the Perth City2Surf on 31st August, the Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane on 7th September and the Samsung Melbourne Marathon on 12 October 2008.

Masahiro Yanagisawa is running for the Institute for one of his old school friends who he heard had developed schizophrenia.

"I hadn't seen him for 6 years after graduation. I visited him and he looked exactly the same as 6 years ago. Very calm and gentle. But he was afraid of conversation because of the disease. I couldn't understand how difficult it was at that time, but now I can a little. I've been away from Japan for many years and felt like a stranger all the time. No friends, no conversations. Feeling isolated from a society is very tough. I hope I can do something for those who have the same difficulties this time."

Just get a team together, and go to www.everydayhero.com.au, select us as your chosen charity and register.

Participate and make a difference. Good luck!
